Dining & Drinks in Ocean Beach
Ocean Beach is known as one of San Diego’s best food scenes. From the famous Hodad’s, to the epic breakfast spot Shades, to Food Network featured OB Noodle House, to local craft beer icon Pizza Port, OB has it all when it comes to food and drink.
The Local Favorites:
5010 Newport Ave., (619) 224-4623
Featured on Food Network's On The Road, the burger joint that put OB on the map, Hodad’s is a landmark in OB. It’s not only a great burger but an unforgettable experience. Featured on the Food Networks Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives several times, this is one of San Diego’s best, and Guy Fieri’s favorites.
Shades Oceanfront Bistro
5083 Santa Monica Ave. Ste. 1F, (619) 222-0501
This is the “go-to” for just about any meal, especially breakfast. We here at the Ocean Beach Hotel are so lucky to have not only all of these fantastic restaurants in town, but to have Shades directly next door to the hotel – who wants to walk more than a block for a fantastic breakfast when you are on vacation! An added bonus – Shades has an outdoor, pet-friendly, patio with amazing ocean views!
Raglan Public House
1851 Bacon St, (619) 794-2304
There are few places for a great burger in town and Raglan is making some serious waves in this category – possibly even leading the pack. With farm fresh organic burgers, salads, and sandwiches this place is a local favorite. With tons of great local craft beers on tap, this is also a fantastic spot to grab a good beer.
South Beach Bar & Grill
5059 Newport Ave., (619) 226-4577
Voted San Diego’s Best Fish Taco repeatedly, this bar and grill is directly across the street from the OB Hotel and dominates the Southern California seafood category for fresh fish tacos – also featured on Food Networks Best. You can order either fried or grilled tacos (two is normally plenty as they are huge) and enjoy the top floor ocean view. We suggest the Mahi tacos – YUM!
Pizza Port Brewing Co.
1956 Bacon St., (619) 224-4700
Ocean Beach was STOKED to have Pizza Port open up in town. If you are a craft beer lover, you already know this brewpub because over the past decade, they have won numerous awards at the World Beer Cup for their tasty brews. And the deep dish pizza is incredible too! This is a fantastic spot for families and large groups with a section for games and plenty of seating at the family style tables.
Ocean Beach Noodle House
2218 Cable St., (619) 450-6868
Locals have known about this gem for the past few years – now the world knows after being featured on Guy Fieri’s Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives as an absolute “must when in San Diego”. And he is right. It can get a little loud and rowdy at this crowd favorite, but it’s the best Vietnamese in San Diego!
4996 W. Point Loma Blvd, (619) 224-2884
If you are in the mood for a more upscale yet still beach casual restaurant, then Bo-Beau’s is the place. From the atmosphere to the AMAZING menu of French-American cuisine to the extensive wine-list, this Cohn restaurant is a show-stopper and a “date-night” favorite!
